InnoDB is a database engine for MySQL relational databases, which is used by well known PHP-powered software apps like Magento and Joomla™ 3. It is perfect for scalable applications, since it works amazingly well when handling enormous volumes of data. Instead of locking the entire database table to add new information to a database like many other engines do, InnoDB locks only one row, so it can execute a lot more tasks for the same length of time. Furthermore, InnoDB offers an improved database crash recovery and supports transactions and foreign key constraints – a set of rules that define how data imports and updates should be treated. In case a particular operation hasn’t been thoroughly completed for whatever reason, the action will be rolled back. In this way, the content in the database will remain intact and will not be partially mixed with newly appended content.
